A dramatic incident is unfolding in the Rockhampton CBD and neighbouring suburb Depot Hill on Wednesday afternoon, with police tracking a vehicle.
It is understood a man towing a caravan was involved in a short chase with police through the CBD area, including Quay, East, Bolsover and Derby streets about 3pm.
Reports suggest a man was driving the vehicle on the wrong side of the road and failed to stop for police in Quay Street before the short chase ensued. Police have since abandoned the vehicle chase but are still searching for the man.
The caravan which was attached to the vehicle has since been ditched in Depot Hill, reports suggest.
There are unconfirmed reports the man may have weapons in the vehicle and members of the public are urged to avoid the incident.
A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed an ongoing incident was unfolding however could not provide any further details.
