Yeppoon realtor, football coach busted on Bruce Hwy drink driving

A Yeppoon real estate principal and female football coach is among a group of motorists who recently faced court over driving offences.

Elders Real Estate Yeppoon principal and Yeppoon Seagals coach Paul John Minto, 51, was among eight people who faced Rockhampton Magistrates Court faced recently over driving offences.

Minto was intercepted driving a silver Toyota Prado at Marlborough on the Bruce Highway in relation to a speeding matter on May 27 about 11am.

He had a blood-alcohol-content reading of .072.

Police prosecutor Brandon Selic said Minto told police he and his three passengers were returning from a football reunion in Mackay to Yeppoon.

Minto told police he consumed 12 alcoholic beverages the night before and had his last drink before midnight.

Defence lawyer R Carlos said his client, who was “very embarrassed to be here”, did not feel hungover that morning.

He said none of his passengers, who also could have driven, had concerns about Minto’s driving that morning.

Mr Carlos said the four occupants of the vehicle were on a driving rotation for the trip.

“(He’s) a man who’s made significant contributions to the Yeppoon community through his real estate business, his sponsorships of local sports in St Brendan’s school and through coaching and managing rugby league,” he said.

He pleaded guilty to one count of drink driving, was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Stacey Jayn Sutherland, 42, was grieving the death of her pop when she was busted driving on Yaamba Rd, Parkhurst, at 1.50pm on April 9, with marijuana in her system.

The mother-of-two pleaded guilty to one count of drug driving, was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Provisional licence holder Breanna Therese Williams, 18, consumed three Great Northern beers before driving to her friends place in Parkhurst on May 26.

The Great Western hotel bartender was intercepted by police at 7.59pm on Alexandra Street, Park Avenue and had a BAC of .032.

She pleaded guilty to one count of drink driving, was disqualified from driving for three months and fined $400.

Michael Desmond Rankin, 23, had a BAC of .075 when he was intercepted driving on Alma St, Rockhampton, on June 4 about 4.10am.

The former Blackwater resident and current construction apprentice had drunk half a carton of Great Northern beers between 3pm the day before until midnight.

This was his second drink driving offence.

He pleaded guilty to one count of drink driving, was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Sterling Archer Scrivener had marijuana in his system when he was intercepted driving a blue ute on North St, Rockhampton, at 6.15am on April 5.

He pleaded guilty to one count drug driving, was disqualified from driving for two months and fined $450.

Christopher James Perrin, 44,had methamphetamine and marijuana in his system when he was intercepted driving along Graeme Acton Way, Rockhampton, on April 18 at 1pm.

He pleaded guilty to one count of drug driving, was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Breannen Lorraine Harrison, 25, drove a vehicle in Port Curtis on June 14 while her driver’s licence was disqualified by a court order.

Police prosecutor Courtney Brown said Harrison, who was an apprentice jockey, was driving home from work about 9.15am on Roope Rd and picked up a member of the public who was involved in a traffic crash.

Ms Brown said police attended an address at 9.50am to talk to Harrison in relation to the traffic crash and that checks revealed her driver’s licence was disqualified.

She pleaded guilty to one count of driving while disqualified, was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for two years.

Stacey Jayne Hartig, 31, had marijuana in her system when she was intercepted driving in Bundaberg North on March 23 at 10.25am.

Hartig said she was prescribed marijuana and knew she shouldn’t have it in her system while driving.

She pleaded guilty to one count of drug driving, was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

All had traffic convictions recorded.
