Wayne James Boles in court for alleged stabbing in Rockhampton East

New details have been revealed in the case against a 69-year-old labourer charged over an alleged stabbing that left a 52-year-old in a critical condition.

New details have been revealed in the case against a 69-year-old labourer charged over an alleged stabbing in Rockhampton that left a 52-year-old in a critical condition.

Wayne James Boles was taken into custody on June 25 and charged with one count of grievous bodily harm following the alleged wounding in East St on June 15.

Mr Boles appeared on the matter for the first time in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 19, where he was represented by solicitor Brian McGowran who ordered a brief of evidence for his client.

Mr McGowran said Mr Boles would be going to Legal Aid.

Magistrate Athol Kennedy adjourned Mr Boles’ matter to August 28 and enlarged his bail to that date.

Police allege just after 7.30pm an altercation occurred at the property between Mr Boles and Grant Allan Ryan, who were known to each other.

According to court documents, the alleged offence occurred at Mr Boles’ address on East St, which is just a few doors down from Mr Ryan’s home.

Emergency crews were called to the East St home in Rockhampton City just before 8pm and when police arrived on scene they found Mr Ryan with two puncture wounds to his back and chest.

He was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Mr Ryan has been discharged from hospital and has returned to his home.
