Police have launched investigations into the cause of a crash which left a man seriously injured on Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle crash involving a Toyota LandCruiser along Emu Park Rd at Tungamull about 1.30pm.

The RACQ CapRescue helicopter was also tasked to the incident and landed just after 2.20pm.

Emergency crews were working to free the man, aged in his early 40s, from the “extensively damaged” car when the chopper landed.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man suffered significant injuries including to his leg and abdomen, as well as deep cuts.

The man required “immediate transport” and was flown to Rockhampton Hospital for further treatment.

“It is a timely reminder that we are in National Road Safety Week and that when accidents happen, the CapRescue Crew are on hand to bring hope in your time of need,” a RACQ CapRescue spokesman said.

Four Queensland Fire and Emergency Services firefighting crews also attended the scene.

Emu Park Rd was closed to all traffic while investigations were carried out late Thursday afternoon.

The driver remains in a serious but stable condition in Rockhampton Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
