Traffic offenders who faced Biloela Magistrates Court

One of the latest Central Queensland traffic offenders caught was a drink driver more than four times the legal limit busted with an open can of beer in her lap.

The following people pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court recently to traffic offending on the region’s roads.

Biloela Magistrates Court, January 25

Traffic conviction recorded

Tina Lee Alexander, 46

Tina Lee Alexander blew a reading of .211 when she was caught drink driving at Moura on January 1.

Police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said after Alexander was intercepted, police saw her with an open can of beer in her lap.

The court heard Alexander, who works at a motel, had a three-page traffic record which included a previous drug driving offence.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale fined her $1300 and disqualified her from driving for 12 months.

Aiden William Lane, 18

P-plater Aiden William Lane blew a reading of .041 when he was caught drink driving on the Leichhardt Highway at Theodore on January 1.

The court heard Lane, who was required to have a zero BAC level, had been at the Taroom races and was driving home to Gracemere when he was intercepted by police.

Brendan Lee Wulf, 47

Brendan Lee Wulf pleaded guilty to driving while court disqualified and contravening a police requirement.

The court heard Wulf was intercepted by police at Theodore on December 27 and he provided them with a false name - his brother’s name.

The court was told Wulf had a five-page traffic history.

A solicitor said Wulf resided at the Sunshine Coast and was a managing director of a landscaping company.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale told Wulf what he did was “extraordinarily stupid” but she accepted he was a person of otherwise good character.

She fined him $1000 and disqualified him from driving for two years.

No criminal conviction was recorded in relation to the contravene requirement offence.

William Barabas blew a reading of .066 when he was caught drink driving at Biloela on December 2.

The court heard Barabas had no similar offending in the past five years and he was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Laurence Joseph Craig Spark, 38

Laurence Joseph Craig Spark blew a reading of .058 when he was caught drink driving on the Dawson Highway at Biloela on December 11.

With no previous offending of this sort, Spark was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Emma-Lee Rayner, 26

Emma-Lee Rayner had cannabis in her system when she was caught drug driving on the Burnett Highway at Jambin on September 12.

The court heard Rayner ran her own business and had two previous drug driving offences on her history.

She was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Tanaya Marie Hagan, 23

Tanaya Marie Hagan had cannabis in her system when she was caught drug driving on Lister Street, Moura, on November 12.

With a previous drug driving offence in 2022, the single mother was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Jack Brodie Stower, 26

Jack Brodie Stower blew a reading of .145 when he was caught drink driving on the Dawson Highway at Moura on December 17.

With no previous offending of this sort, Stower was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Travis Jack Toms, 21

Travis Jack Toms blew a reading of .112 when he was caught drink driving on the Burnett Highway at Jambin on January 21.

With no previous offending of this sort, Toms was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for five months.

He successfully applied for a restricted work licence for his job as an apprentice auto electrician and diesel fitter.

Rheese Thomas-Lee Jewess blew a reading of .076 when he was caught drink driving on Malakoff Street, Biloela, on December 16.

With no previous offending of this sort, he was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Jamie Thomas Dolan blew a reading of .051 when he was caught drink driving at Thangool on January 21.

With no previous offending of this kind, Dolan was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Adrian Robert Brown, 33

Adrian Robert Brown blew a reading of .082 when he was caught drink driving on the Dawson Highway at Moura on October 25 last year.

With previous offending of this sort on his history, a self-represented Brown told Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale he was currently seeking help for his alcohol issues.

Ms Beckinsale fined him $500 and disqualified him from driving for three months.

Nicholas Gage Curtis, 21

Nicholas Gage Curtis blew a reading of .051 when he was caught drink driving on the Burnett Highway at Biloela on October 1 last year.

The court heard Curtis was on a probationary driver’s licence at the time but this was his first drink driving offence.

He was fined $850 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Gary James Story, 31

Gary James Story had methamphetamine in his system when he was caught drug driving on the Burnett Highway at Goovigen on July 28 last year.

The court heard Story was on a probationary driver’s licence at the time.

It was also told that Story had drug offending on both his criminal and traffic histories.

For his latest offending, Story was fined $550 and disqualified from driving for three months.

P-plater Stephanie-Anne Patricia Jeen Hawkins had cannabis in her system when she was caught drug driving at Biloela on October 28 last year.

With no previous offending of this sort, Hawkins was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Mathew James Pat Belford, 20

P-plater Mathew James Pat Belford blew a reading of .137 when he was caught drink driving on Stopford Street, Baralaba, on December 27 last year.

A self-represented Belford told Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale he occasionally did truck driving work.

With no previous offending of this sort on his traffic history, Belford was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Winnie Kombo, 47

Winnie Kombo blew a reading of .052 when she was caught drink driving on the Dawson Highway at Biloela on November 17 last year.

With no previous offending of this sort, Kombo was fined $550 and disqualified from driving for one month.
