A man charged with arson in relation to an alleged car ramming incident at the Emu Park police station on Sunday has appeared in court.

Ryan Thomas Clare, 42, appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 5, having been charged with one count of attempted car arson from January 2 at Emu Park, wilful damage to a car and a shed from the same date, possessing a grinder used in a drug crime from January 4, obstructing police on January 3, and two charges from November 16 at Broadbeach Waters (Gold Coast) – enter business and commit an indictable offence (for allegedly stealing a jacket) and wilful damage (for allegedly damaging a counter and television).

At about 3.20pm, a vehicle collided with a parked car at a driveway outside the Emu Park Police Station's garage, pushing it through the door and into another car. The driver exited the vehicle before allegedly pouring fuel over one of the cars and lighting a small fire in the grass nearby.

Police said the fire was extinguished, and no one was injured during the incident.

A brief of evidence has been ordered for the alleged arson incident.

Mr Clare’s Rockhampton Magistrate Court matters were adjourned until March 9 and his charges from the Gold Coast will next be mentioned in Southport Magistrates Court.

No bail application was made and Mr Clare was remanded in custody.
