Two driving blunders in the space of a year has a young woman on the verge of a lengthy disqualification if she’s caught reoffending again.
Haylee Ellen Balchin, 26, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on October 14 to disqualified driving.
Police caught Balchin driving a black Holden Commodore on Yeppoon’s Normanby Street on the evening of September 19.
At the time, her driver’s licence was demerit point suspended from August 18 to November 17.
It was only late last year that Balchin was caught driving with an expired licence.
Balchin represented herself in court and Magistrate Jason Schubert asked if there was anything she wanted to say about her offending.
She replied: “No, Your Honour.”
When asked about her personal circumstances, Balchin told Mr Schubert that she worked in Rockhampton as a console operator.
Mr Schubert noted Balchin’s prior offence in late 2020 before fining her $450 and disqualifying her from driving for six months.
He also warned Balchin that if she was caught driving while under a court-imposed disqualification she faced a mandatory two-year licence disqualification.
