A man has been tracked down by a police dog and charged after allegedly breaking into a Rockhampton business and attempting to steal copper wire.

Footage has emerged of the moment one of Rockhampton’s police dogs sniffed out an alleged would-be copper thief.
A 26-year-old man has been charged after an alleged break and enter at a Depot Hill business on Monday, January 22.
It’s alleged the man entered the business about 8.30pm and tried to steal copper wire before police arrived on scene.
The man was tracked down in the facility by police dog Tux and arrested.
The man was charged with enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on February 9.
According to police, copper is a “valuable” commodity and offences can cause an increase in end-user costs, impact productivity, cause a direct impact on individuals in the community, and result in serious injury and death to thieves and innocent victims.
Police have urged the community to keep an eye out for suspicious activity, including people removing items from locations such as constructions sites, sporting fields, energy and water supplies, community venues, industrial areas and shopping centres.
“Suspicious activity includes people removing items from these locations by individuals or small groups – most construction and utility sites will take delivery but not have items removed,” a spokesman for Queensland Police Service said.
“The community should look out for discarded cable insulation, open access to utilities and removal of materials from construction or public sites.
“If it looks out of place, report it.”
