Police are continuing to investigate any reported sightings of an elderly Rockhampton man who went missing just over two weeks ago.

Peter Roach, 80, was reported missing from The Range on May 21.

Mr Roach, who was a patient at Rockhampton Hospital before he went missing, was last seen walking on Canning St about 3.40pm on May 21 and has not heard from since.

Mr Roach suffers from a medical condition which can cause him to suffer from confusion and with temperatures dropping into single digits of a night time over recent weeks, there have been increasing concerns for his welfare.

He is also understood to be non-verbal and deaf, and only has one arm.

Police co-ordinated an extensive search and rescue operation for five days in the South Rockhampton area, including the Fitzroy River, with assistance from SES volunteers and the RACQ Capricorn Rescue helicopter.

They also conducted door knocks and urged residents to check their backyards.

The search for Mr Roach was scaled back on May 26.

On Monday, June 5, Capricorn Crime Group Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey said police were continuing to follow leads on Mr Roach’s whereabouts.

“CIB are now leading that investigation for Mr Roach and we still seek public assistance for anyone with information,” he said.

“At this stage we’re still following up on any information that comes in and we have had unconfirmed sightings from all around the district.

“To date, we still have not been able to locate him.”

Det Act Insp Peachey said police were still in constant contact with Mr Roach’s family.

“We’ve had recent sightings, I know late last week we followed up on some sightings in Emerald but unfortunately it didn’t turn out to be our missing person,” he said.

“Any sightings that come in we will follow up because our priority, especially for the family, is we need to find this gentleman and either bring him home or give the family some peace.

“It’s still an active investigation, it’s still a missing person investigation, we haven’t transitioned into a coronial side of things yet. There’s always hope.”

Mr Roach is described as caucasian in appearance with brown eyes, dark and grey hair and was last seen wearing a grey jumper, maroon shirt with long blue pants, and brown shoes, as pictured in this article.

He is also described as being non-verbal.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is also urged to contact police immediately.
