Two Capricorn Coast residents have faced court after they were busted with drugs at a music, art and lifestyle festival near the Whitsundays.

Marisa Mary Law, 29, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on October 27 to possessing cannabis and a drug utensil.

Justin Kyle Bevan, 28, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said on September 15, Whitsunday police had an interception site at O’Connell River near the Mushroom Valley Festival.

The court heard Law was driving and Bevan was a passenger in a vehicle that was intercepted.

In relation to Law, Sgt Dalton said in the back area of the vehicle, police found a clip-seal bag containing 20g of cannabis.

Sgt Dalton said that under a bed in the back of the vehicle, police also located another clip-seal bag that contained 14.3g of cannabis.

Law claimed ownership of those two items, as well as a water pipe, and was charged.

The court heard Law had “no history whatsoever.”

Representing herself in court, Law told Magistrate Grace Kahlert she worked at Byfield General Store and she knew she shouldn’t have had the drugs with her.

Ms Kahlert placed Law on a six-month good behaviour order with a $400 recognisance, and drug diversion.

No conviction was recorded.

In another clip-seal bag, police found 6.5 of cannabis and Bevan claimed ownership of these items.

The court heard Bevan also had no prior history.

Representing himself, Bevan told Magistrate Kahlert he was not currently working.

Ms Kahlert placed Bevan on a six-month good behaviour order with a $250 recognisance, and drug diversion.

No conviction was recorded.
