A man who used a shopping trolley to cause more than $1600 worth of damage at a Central Queensland shopping centre has faced court.
Robin Anthony Damien Spiller, 57, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on November 23 to wilful damage.
Police prosecutor Brandon Selic said about 8.40pm on September 5, Spiller used a shopping trolley to ram a glass sliding door at Keppel Bay Plaza in Yeppoon multiple times.
Mr Selic said Spiller then left the scene and police used CCTV footage to identify him.
The prosecution sought restitution of $1641.70 for damage caused.
The court heard that Spiller had no similar offending on his history.
Solicitor Krissy Cummins said Spiller was a disability pensioner who could not recall the incident at Keppel Bay Plaza.
“He said that he has a heart condition and he would have had a couple of drinks that day,” Ms Cummins said.
“He accepts completely though that it happened.”
Acting Magistrate Gary Finger fined Spiller $400 and ordered he pay $1641.70 restitution.
No conviction was recorded.
