The case against a Rockhampton man and woman accused of bestiality has arrived in the higher courts.
Gareth John Miggins, 42, and Jannine Irene Miggins, also known as Jannine Irene Whitehead, 51, had their matters mentioned in Rockhampton District Court for the first time today.
They each face three counts of bestiality.
Crown prosecutor Tiffany Lawrence advised the court Mr Miggins was making attempts to secure legal representation, which was important because there were matters that could complicate the case.
She said he was also dealing with property matters that could take four to six weeks to resolve.
Ms Lawrence said he no longer lives locally and receives Centrelink payments.
Mr Miggins appeared in court for this mention.
Ms Miggins was represented by barrister Julie Marsden who requested an adjournment to confirm instructions with her client.
According to court documents, Mr Miggins, who owned a business at the time he was charged, and Ms Miggins allegedly had sex with a dog at a Berserker address on December 29, 2021 and January 17, 2022.
The documents also alleged the pair committed bestiality on a dog a third time at a Norman Gardens address where Mr Miggins was residing at the time.
Neither have entered pleas.
Judge Jeff Clarke advised he would be setting a date for pleas to be entered when the case is next mentioned on June 12.
