A domestic violence offending Central Queensland boilermaker bombed his victim with text messages, calling her ‘disgusting’ and making comments about her seeing another man.

A domestic violence offending Central Queensland boilermaker has faced court after he bombed a woman with text messages as their marriage broke down.

The man, who by law cannot be named, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court to contravening a domestic violence order.

The court heard the order required the man not to contact the female aggrieved, with some exceptions.

Police prosecutor Corey O’Connor said the man’s offending started about 5am on December 29 when he sent a text message to the woman stating “I knew something was going on with you and (other man’s name). You’re disgusting... I can’t wait to give my kids a better life.”

“(The man) proceeded to send (the woman) approximately 31 text messages throughout the day - all of a similar nature,” Mr O’Connor said.

“At one point (the woman) told (the man) to leave her alone but (he) persisted in sending (her) more text messages.”

The court heard the man had no criminal history.

Solicitor Dominic Jorgensen said the man was a boilermaker and his offending was “very much at the lower end of the scale” for domestic violence.

“The offending itself is limited to text messages and is in the context of a marital breakdown,” Mr Jorgensen said.

The solicitor said the man was remorseful for his conduct.

Magistrate Lance Rundle fined the man $300 and no conviction was recorded.
