A driver who crashed into the car in front of her as she pulled into an RBT site at Yeppoon, subsequently returned a positive reading.

Jessica Ella Boles, 33, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on October 7 to driving without due care and attention, and drink-driving.

The court heard that on July 30, just before midday, Boles was pulling into an RBT site on Adelaide Park Road, Yeppoon, when she collided with the car in front of her.

Boles told police she had taken her eyes off the road to grab a box that was falling from the passenger seat.

She subsequently blew a positive reading of 0.067.

The court heard that Boles had a previous drink-driving offence on her history from 2019.

Boles, representing herself in court, told Magistrate Jason Schubert that she had been drinking “quite heavily” the night before her offending and she thought she would have been under the limit when she drove.

Boles said that at the time she had been going through some difficult personal circumstances and she was “extremely remorseful” for what she did.

She said she had since been seeing a therapist as well as doing drug and alcohol counselling.

Mr Schubert fined her $600 and disqualified her from driving for four months.

No restitution was sought.
