Christy Lee Phillips supplied methamphetamines in Moura

The daughter of two police officers, who played soccer for Queensland and was a school captain, used encrypted apps to organise supplying meth to ‘customers’. But it didn’t stop police from uncovering her dirty deals.

Christy Lee Phillips pleaded guilty on September 3 in Rockhampton District Court to three counts of supplying a dangerous drug.

A former school captain and star soccer playing daughter of two police officers used encrypted apps and Facebook messenger to discuss supplying meth.

Christy Lee Phillips pleaded guilty on September 3 in Rockhampton District Court to three counts of supplying a dangerous drug.

Crown prosecutor Maryam Yousufzai said Phillips was searched twice in five weeks and was found with 99 grams of marijuana on December 13 in 2019, along with methamphetamines, needles, scales, clip-seal bags and small containers in a room she used to administer drugs.

Police also seized a mobile phone during the first search, which revealed Phillips supplied 1.75g of meth after initially being contacted on Facebook Messenger and then completing the sale on an encrypted app.

Phillips’s Moura residence was searched again on January 19 and other phones seized revealed two more meth supplies of 0.1 grams.

Phillips had deleted her responses but the customer/s messages were still visible.

She again supplied one gram of meth on January 16.

Phillips, a former school captain and Queensland soccer representative, was handed a probation order on July 14, 2021, for the utensils, marijuana and meth possession found at her place on January 19.

Defence barrister Tom Polley said his client, the daughter of two police officers, started using drugs when she was in a relationship with a controlling person who used drugs.

He said when the relationship broke down in 2018, she was unable to kick the habit.

Mr Polley said Phillips was then busted drug driving in a company car and instead of being fired, her boss stood her down until she supplied clean drug tests.

Mr Polley supplied the court with multiple drug tests Phillips passed between February 14, 2021 and September 1, 2021.

He said Phillips ended up in a romantic relationship with her boss and they now had an eight-month-old child together.

Mr Polley said the couple worked for a company which provided lawn maintenance services for large organisations, including an explosives factory which required all staff to have no recorded convictions.

Judge Jeff Clarke congratulated Phillips on overcoming her reliance on illicit drugs.

He placed her on an 18-month probation order with no convictions recorded.
