A man has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a car and semi-trailer that blocked the Bruce Highway in both directions in Central Queensland.
The collision occurred at the highway and Gavial-Gracemere Rd at Midgee about 5.30am Tuesday.
Paramedics were on scene assessing two stable patients.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said two crews were called to the crash scene involving a car and semi-trailer near the Mount Morgan turn off, with one still remaining on site.
He said both lanes of the highway were closed as a result of the crash.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said reports suggested the highway would be shut for the foreseeable future as the truck was blocking the roadway.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the driver of the car, a man in his 40s, had been transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition with back and chest injuries.
She said paramedics had assessed the truck driver, a man in his 30s, however he was uninjured and did not require to be transported to hospital.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the highway remained shut with a diversion in place at Kime Rd.
One lane of the Bruce Highway had reopened about 8am with both lanes reopened just before 9am.
