Paedophile Mitchell Tristan Trent Brown allegedly sent naked pictures to 10 kids

A Central Queensland man contacted at least 10 children aged seven to 15 via social media, and in one disturbing act threatened to expose indecent images of one young girl if she didn’t talk to him.

A paedophile contacted children and other child sex offenders on social media for naked children photographs threatened to expose one child’s showering images if she didn’t talk to him.

Mitchell Tristan Trent Brown contacted at least 10 children aged seven to 15 via social media apps Snapchat and Instagram, asking them for naked pictures of themselves, and swapped child exploitation material with others.

Brown, who is a reportable convicted sex offender who a psychiatrist says meets the criteria for Pedophilic Disorder, failed to report to authorities that he had access to a mobile phone he used to create accounts on the social media apps, which he also failed to report.

The 22-year-old also failed to report he had contact with children.

Crown prosecutor Maryam Yousufzai said Brown was on bail when he tried to send an 11-year-old girl a photograph of his genitals.

Brown also took a screenshot of an image one child sent him of the side of her breasts and buttocks, which he then told her he would expose it to others if she did not talk to him.

Ms Yousufzai said he only stopped when the girl twice threatened to kill herself.

She said Brown, pretending to be a 12-year-old, asked his youngest victim about her sex life with her ex-boyfriend and asked for photographs.

Ms Yousufzai said Brown sent an image of a pre pubescent girl to an Instagram user and asked “this is you. That’s you”.

She said he sent messages to another account asking “do you like little kids nudes? Do you have any little kids nudes?”

Ms Yousufzai said Brown sent a selfie-style image of a girl aged seven to 10 in a shower, showing her chest and genitals.

Brown pleaded guilty in Emerald District Court on December 8, 2022, to 17 offences including distributing child exploitation material, possessing child exploitation material, indecent treatment of a child, using a carriage service to harass or menace and using the internet to procure a child.

The indecent treatment of a child related involved Brown kissing a young girl on the mouth and pushing her head down towards his genitals.

His sentencing process was part heard in Rockhampton District Court on January 30 and adjourned until February 10.

Defence barrister Sheridan Shaw said Brown had a “somewhat turbulent upbringing”, living in Blackwater, where he was exposed to domestic violence and alcohol abuse.

She said his father died in a motorcycle accident when Brown was eight years old.

Ms Shaw said Brown struggled with suicidal ideation.
