A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed crews responded to Freeman Court at Gracemere in relation to the unlawful use of a motor vehicle, however further details, including where the vehicle was stolen from, remained unclear.

Defence lawyer Ashley Reynolds said her client, who lived in Brisbane, had suffered from a drug addiction for a majority of his life.

Ms Reynolds said her client had travelled up to visit a friend, however, began using drugs.

She said her client would comply with bail conditions, including curfew and reporting conditions.

Mr Schubert refused to grant Mr Hames bail, stating there was an unacceptable risk that if released on bail he would commit other offences.

Mr Hames was remanded in custody with his matters adjourned to November 23 in Brisbane.
