A man has died after a crash caused his van to end up in a ditch north of Rockhampton.

Emergency services responded to a single vehicle crash on Yeppoon Road in Ironpot about 10.45am on Thursday.

It was understood that a white Volkswagen Transporter van veered off the road and gone into a ditch.

The driver, a 79-year-old Pomona man was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition, but he died a day later.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and urge anyone with information or relevant vision to contact them.
