The super six have been instrumental in TCC’s march to this week’s Aussie rules finals.

The 2023 outfit, captained by Chelsey Perry and Emily Mann, has the chance to emulate the team of 2017 which won the title.

Coach Michael Rose said his players were excited and riding a wave of momentum after their gritty one-point win over northern powerhouse Ryan Catholic College in their last game.

“We’ve got a younger side but it’s a really talented one,” he said.

“A lot of the girls are playing club footy and have played a full season at least in the last couple of years.

“Our skills are getting better and if we try to play smarter footy that might give us a bit of an edge.”

Rose said the rugby league players brought plenty of power, wingers Jess Large and Maddie Johnson boasted speed and skill and Amelia Watene was a workhorse who dominated one-on-one contests.

Perry was a consistent performer in the halfback line, while Mann was tireless in the midfield.

Rose said TCC was a very physical side which prided itself on preventing opposition players from breaking tackles.

“We should definitely be able to hold our own,” he said.

“We’ll face some quality teams down there but we’ll see how we go. Anything can happen in a game of footy.”
