Aaron Kleier will hit the Great Western Hotel arena this weekend as he looks to extend his incredible run on the national stage.

Clermont’s Aaron Kleier is chasing more bull riding history as he attempts to claim the PBR Australia championship for a fourth consecutive time.

If successful, the 23-year-old will tie with David Kennedy for the most national titles won by a rider in league history.

Kleier became the first bull rider to win three consecutive PBR Australia championships last year.

Kleier sits atop the standings heading into the last round of the 2021 series at Rockhampton’s Great Western Hotel on Saturday night.

He will be keen to maintain the momentum, with the PBR grand finals just two weeks away.

“I’m feeling confident, I’m feeling good,” Kleier said.

“I won’t be changing anything, I’ll just go about things the same way I have all year because that’s been working for me.

“I don’t really get caught up in the points side of things, I just focus on each ride and take it bull by bull.

“Maybe when I’m finished I’ll look back and think about what I’ve achieved but for now I just want to keep going and keep doing what I love, which is riding bulls.”

Rookie sensation Macaulie Leather from Calliope is currently ranked number two, just 106 points behind Kleier.

Mareeba’s Kurt Shephard is in third place, with Moura’s Lawson Nobbs and Clermont’s Brady Fielder rounding out the top five.

PBR Australia general manager Glen Young said Saturday’s event was “make or break” and had the potential to drastically change the standings.

“This weekend in Rockhampton really is ‘make or break’ as it is the last event before the Grand Finals and has the potential to drastically change the standings,” explains Mr Young.

“Nothing is set in stone yet. it is still anyone’s game, and we could see any rider walk away with the title,” he said.

“Aaron is a strong rider and he has had a great run this season.

“However he didn’t have his best rides last weekend in Caboolture and placed fourth, so I think he will be looking to redeem himself in Rockhampton and keep his eye firmly on the national title.”

Young said anticipation was building among riders and contractors for who would be crowned the 2021 PBR Australian Champion Rider, Bull of the Year, and Contractor of the Year at the grand finals in Townsville on November 26 and 27.
