One of two women accused of leaving a young child behind on a bus will be sentenced this year, while the other has yet to indicate if she will take the matter to trial or not.

Bianca Maree Reynolds, 31, and Tara Alyce Steers, 30, are each charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

Police allege the women picked up a child, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, about 8.30am on May 4, and drove to a childcare centre at Gracemere where they parked the bus and left the child inside the vehicle.

It is further alleged another staff member drove the bus to a school at Gracemere, about 2.45pm, and observed the child unconscious in the back of the vehicle.

The child was unconscious and was taken into the centre where staff began CPR and emergency services were called.

She was in a critical condition, taken to Rockhampton Hospital and then flown to Brisbane for treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

She has since recovered and returned home.

The women’s indictments were presented to Rockhampton District Court on May 2 with Ms Reynolds’ lawyer informing the court her client intends to plead guilty.

The court heard Ms Steers’ defence barrister will be conferencing with her this week and would likely send a submission to the Crown in the coming weeks.

Judge Jeff Clarke adjourned both matters to June 19 for mention.
