The sheer spread of Covid-19 across Queensland has been revealed with new figures showing scores of cases popping up in most suburbs and towns across the state.

The inner Brisbane suburbs of Newstead-Bowen Hills are the epicentre of the outbreak, recording the highest number of cases in the state since Omicron flooded in from December 13 with 1072 cases to January 12, new Queensland Health data shows.

Other inner-city suburbs including Fortitude Valley (709 cases) and Coorparoo (599 cases) also recorded big numbers.

Ipswich also continues to be a hotspot with Redbank Plains recording huge levels of the virus with 1040 cases, Ripley (331 cases) and 404 cases in Goodna.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s electorate of Inala-Richlands had 814 cases while elsewhere in Brisbane, Forest Lake-Ellen Grove had 676 cases, Thornlands had 448, Kedron-Gordon Park had 458, Chermside recorded 357, Annerley had 425, Bracken Ridge had 405 and North Lakes had 368.

In Logan, there were 585 reported cases at Boronia Heights-Park Ridge, Marsden had 725 and Crestmead had 482

On the Gold Coast, Mermaid Beach and Broadbeach had significant transmission with 808 cases, neighbouring Mermaid Waters had 491, Miami had 419, Varsity Lakes had 625 and further south there were 666 cases at Palm Beach and 484 at Currumbin-Tugun.

On the central Gold Coast, Southport (north) had 820 cases, Southport (south) had 694, Surfers Paradise (south) had 906 cases and Surfers (north) had 529.

On the northern end of the Gold Coast, Labrador had 551 cases while Helensvale had 572 cases and Pacific Pines-Gaven had 504.

On the Sunshine Coast, Maroochydore- Kuluin recorded 556 cases and Mooloolaba-Alexandra Headland had 391 cases.

Up north, the tourism hotspot of Airlie-Whitsundays recorded 700 cases, Cairns had 666 and Cape York had 153 cases.

New data also shows the 20-24 year old age group had the highest rate of infection with more than 7200 cases, the 25-29 age group was next worst with 6,400 cases, the 15-19 age group had 2900 cases while the 35-39 range had 2800 cases.

The local government areas of Brisbane recorded more than 33,000 cases, the Gold Coast had more than 19,000, Logan had 8000 and Ipswich had nearly 5000.
