Redbank Plains State High School went into lockdown on Monday morning following reports of a physical altercation on the school grounds.

Emergency services were called to the site at approximately 11.54am.

A teenage boy in a stable condition was assessed by paramedics. He was not transported to hospital.

Queensland Police attended the incident.

This comes as several concerned parents took to social media after receiving text messages from their children about a lockdown occurring at the school.

One parent wrote their teenage daughter was near the incident and messaged her mum that she was scared.

In a statement provided to The Courier-Mail, a Queensland Department of Education spokesman confirmed that the school was placed into a brief lockdown due to a student behaviour incident.

“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff is the department’s highest priority. The school community has been notified and counselling and support is in place for all students and staff who require it,” the statement read.

“No further details can be provided due to student privacy. The school continues to work diligently to promote safe and respectful interactions between students and a safe learning environment for everyone in the school community.”
