Queensland can expect scattered thunderstorms and widespread moderate rain in the coming days.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of the risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding in northern Central Queensland.
“A rain band with isolated thunderstorms is extending broadly across much of interior Queensland today, before moving across the east over the weekend,” a BOM spokesperson said.
“There is the potential for slow-moving thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall over the coming days, which may lead to flash flooding in parts.”
The east coast should expect scattered showers today, with more heavier rainfall on the north tropical coast.
Areas across the state can expect between 10mm and 30mm of rainfall, and areas that are impacted by isolated storms could receive up to 50mm of rain.
“The risk of locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding extends into the northern and central interior from late tonight and into the early morning tomorrow,” the spokesperson said.
The Bureau has raised moderate flood warnings for the Moonie, Warrego, and Bulloo catchments, in the Southern interior.
“New or renewed rises may occur in rivers and creeks across western and southern Queensland over the next few days given some catchments are wet and could be responsive to any further rainfall,” the BOM spokesperson said.
Showers are expected to ease early next week in parts of the east while Far North Queensland will remain wet.
