Opposition Leader Steven Miles has sensationally slammed Premier David Crisafulli as the laziest premier ever, amid a dwindling number of media conference appearances.
The last time Mr Crisafulli fronted the media was on April 13, when he challenged Treasurer and Energy Minister David Janetzki’s handling of the Callide Power Station explosion on April 4.
A week prior, on April 6, he addressed the media at Logan alongside Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie, skipping weekday press conferences altogether.
Mr Miles accused Mr Crisafulli of being the laziest premier ever, despite himself being slammed for being on holiday last January while parts of the state were impacted by storms.
“I don’t remember a premier ever appearing so rarely, and so rarely on weekdays too,” Mr Miles said.
Mr Crisafulli instead released a social media message, promoting Easter as a day of “food and faith and family and chocolates”.
He recognised a “really difficult start to 2025” with three natural disasters across Queensland, and thanked those working during the public holiday.
“Enjoy time with your loved ones if you get a chance,” Mr Crisafulli said.
A spokesman for Mr Crisafulli would not respond to Mr Miles’s comments.
Mr Miles also attacked the recent performance of Mr Janetzki, after the Courier-Mail revealed the government would not establish the internal consultancy firm to save $757m by the end of the financial year.
He said the absence of the consulting arm threatened the government’s ability to reduce debt without putting health services on the chopping block.
“Today we learn that that same Treasurer, David Janetzki, hasn’t bothered to set up a consulting arm that the LNP promised Queenslanders would save $6bn over four years,” he said.
“And it seems unlikely that that will occur, that the Treasurer will somehow to be able to find those savings.”
