A Queensland man has been arrested on a tropical Thai island and is being extradited to Brisbane on an interpol warrant.
The 62-year-old man was taken into custody on the island of Koh Phangan by Thai police after receiving the alert from interpol.
According to reports, the man entered Thailand on June 16 on a tourist visa that he renewed for 30 days but which then expired on August 15.
It has been reported that the man arrived in Sydney this morning, and is on his way to Queensland accompanied by detectives.
Queensland police have confirmed they are working with international and national partner agencies on an extradition of a 62-year-old man.
“QPS is working with international and national agencies to seek extradition of a 62-year-old back to Australia,” a Queensland Police spokesman said.
It is not yet known where legal proceedings against the man stand.
