Police investigate attempted child abduction in South Brisbane

Police are investigating after two men allegedly tried to abduct a primary school-aged boy walking home from school in Brisbane’s south.

Two men have allegedly tried to abduct a primary school-aged boy while he was walking home from school in Brisbane’s south on Monday.

Police are investigating after an 8-year-old boy revealed he was approached by two men unknown to him in a Mercedes when he was walking along Plumridge Street, Chelmer around 3pm on Monday.

It is understood no one was physically harmed during the incident and the young boy is safe.

Police are now seeking two men described to be in their mid-3o’s of caucasian appearance with short black hair who may be able to assist with investigations.

A letter shared to 7News from nearby primary school Christ the King details the alleged incident and has urged their own school community to be vigilant when travelling to and from school.

“On Monday 14 October while walking home from their school to home, a student from Graceville State School has reported to have been followed and approached by a grey Mercedes-Benz sedan,” the letter read.

It further detailed the occupants of the vehicle attempting to engage with the student by “driving close to them and talking with them”, with “multiple attempts by both a passenger and the driver to pull the student in the car”.

According to police, the men were last seen in a silver or grey Mercedes SUV that is believed to have had black plates and white writing.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the matter or has dashcam footage from the area at the time to report it to police.
