FOR most people an hour of lotus poses, downward dogs and sun salutes is more than enough.
So the mention of 12 hours of yoga seems like too much of a good thing.
But the team at Noosa Yoga studio, Aloha Active believe their 12-hour Yogathon for bushfire relief is a great way to feel great and give back at the same time.
Studio owner, Michael Bowers organised the event, which consists of 12 back-to-back yoga classes, as their way of giving back to our hard working firefighters.
He said with all the devastation seen across the country it was still important to recognise our fireys close to home.
“The money raised will go to our Rural Queensland Fire Services,” he said.
“We are keen to do a local thing,” he said.
Bowers said anyone can get involved for as little as $10 per class and they can participate in as many classes as they wish.
“We’ll have pilates, hot yoga, some classes will be in the hot room which gets up to 40 degrees,” he said.
While there was no expectation that participants will complete the entire 12 hours, Bowers said he had heard whispers that some people may be up for the challenge.
“A couple of people were suggesting it, so we’ll see what happens on the day,” he said.
The yoga studio owner had some sound advice for anyone who was thinking of putting their hand up for the entire 12-hour event.
“Bring plenty of hydration and maybe a change of clothes,” Bowers said.
The yoga marathon will include a closing meditation and mindfulness session focused on giving thanks to our hardworking firefighters.
“We will take some time out to think about those who have helped us all,” Bowers said.
The 12-hour Yogathon is on Saturday, January 25 from 6am to 6pm.
It will be held at the Aloha Active Noosa studio at the Blue Resort, Noosa Heads.
