THERE are so many truly remarkable people in the Noosa region.
Each and every one of us has a lifetime of achievements, thoughts, beliefs and lessons learned.
The Q&A feature is an opportunity to showcase some of the exceptional people in our proud region.
This week we hear from Peregian artist Pete Goodlet.
1. What is something you really resent paying for?
We pay a lot of insurance. I am not sure I resent that though, I just wish it was less.
2. What is the best advice you ever received?
To buy my own home.
I bought my first house/shack at 24.
It was tiny and didn’t really have a kitchen and bathroom, but it was on a lovely bush block on the Great Ocean Road.
3. What do you do to relax?
I relax the best when I’m painting or creating. I’m better if my mind and hands are occupied.
4. What is one thing you would struggle to quit?
Having a big garden around me. We have over an acre with lots of projects on my drawing board.
5. What do you wish you knew when you were younger?
That self-employed people should have superannuation. That is important advice I probably shouldn’t have ignored.
6. What is the worst injury you’ve had and how did it happen?
I shattered my thumb to pieces at the base by using my compressor to inflate a furniture trolley tyre.
Yes, it was as painful as it sounds.
7. What would your friends say is your worst habit?
Probably that I always insist that one cocktail is never enough.
8. What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
I think that one would go to my mum and dad for having me and eight siblings.
That was an act of kindness that just kept giving.
I loved being part of a big family.
9. If you could write a new law, what would it be?
That all homes and businesses were connected to solar power and that all new homes had to be as environmentally sustainable as possible.
10. What do you do when you have 30 minutes free?
I like to wander around my garden.
It’s an opportunity to let my imagination run wild.
