One of Hinterland’s biggest employers is growing economy

ONE of the Hinterland’s biggest employers, Noosa Landcare is doing all they can to keep the team safe and in work during the unprecedented times.

But they need our help.

As with most businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak, the not-for-profit, which employs 50 people, has had to make sweeping changes to keep the staff and the community safe.

“We are doing our utmost best to keep our amazing staff safe and in a job moving forward,” Acting General Manager Rachel Lyons said.

“From closing our retail outlet, to postponing all of our popular workshops, things have changed and probably will continue to be modified over the coming months.”

“As one of the largest employers in the hinterland, we pump large amounts of money each year into the local economy - at the hardware, mechanics, petrol station, shops, cafes,” Ms Lyons said.

“We have always supported local businesses first in our supply chain and now it is more important than ever to keep doing so.”

Noosa Landcare is calling on green thumbs from across the region to make the most of this time of social distancing.

“While we are all spending time at home a little bit more than we all expected to right now – get out into the yard and spruce that garden up,” Ms Lyons said.

“Revegetate that slope or creek bank down the back.

“Our nurseries are still growing plants and with the closure of our retail outlet, we are now offering both pick-up and delivery service,” she said.

“Help us keep our staff and the Hinterland economy ticking over.”
