One of Noosa’s business groups will welcome a new 13-strong leadership team at its upcoming annual general meeting.
After a rocky six months, which included three people holding the president role, Noosa’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland members are hoping their new-look leadership team will add some stability for businesses amid the turbulent COVID-19 challenges.
Former Chamber boss reveals why she won’t run again
The Chamber’s annual general meeting, to be held at Sunshine Beach Surf Club on September 15, will formally announce the group’s biggest leadership team.
The new group will be made up of the leadership committee and a number of portfolios, including arts, retail and short term accommodation.
Chamber boss bails out just six months into the role
According to the meeting agenda, all of the 13 positions have been elected unopposed.
Here are the members of the new Noosa Chamber of Commerce leadership team.
President, Rob Neely
Former Peregian Beach Surf Club president, Noosa Hinterland Residents Association president, and former vice president of the chamber, Rob Neely is the new president.
Vice President, Janet Kake
Former president of the chamber and unsuccessful 2020 Noosa Council candidate Janet Kake is one of two vice presidents.
Vice President, Ralph Rogers
Owner of Acres Noosa and investor in local enterprise, Ralph Rogers will be vice president.
Secretary, Glen Nichols
Noosa businessman Glen Nichols will serve as secretary for the group.
Treasurer, Karen Cook Langdon
Co-owner of a property management business and unsuccessful 2020 Noosa Council candidate Karen Cook-Langdon is the chamber’s new treasurer.
Arts, Andrew Squires
Noosa Alive Festival president and unsuccessful Future Noosa candidate in the 2020 Noosa Council election Andrew Squires will take on the new role of arts representative.
Retail, Andy Ross
Kayak Noosa owner Andy Ross will head up retail.
Youth, Emma Tomlinson
Actor, extra, model, dancer, and musician Emma Tomlinson will represent the younger chamber members.
Accommodation, Jon Thompson
Jon Thompson from Coral Beach Noosa resort is in charge of accommodation and short term accommodation.
Advisory / Governance, Joel Laventure
Founder and managing director of IO2 Insurance Brokers Joel Laventure will be welcomed as the representative for advisory and governance.
Resorts, Emma Hull
Manager of The Emerald Noosa and Hastings St Association president Emma Hull will look after all matters concerning resorts.
Membership, Vanessa Webster
Marketing coach Vanessa Webster will oversee memberships.
Community Associations, Sporting Groups and Not-for-Profits, Tim Rook
Noosaville’s Twin Quays on-site manager and keen triathlete Tim Rook is in charge of
community associations, sporting groups and not-for-profits.
Former chamber president Janet Kake believes the new leadership group had what it took to bring a new strength to the Noosa business group and Noosa businesses.
“We have had some extremely good people putting their hands up,” Ms Kake said.
“It’ll be a bigger committee than we’ve ever had.”
