Family tickled pink as Coast move proves a gem

A jeweller new to town is confident the pink Argyle diamonds by which he swears will add plenty of sparkle to clients' lives.

Life has been rosy pink for the Collingwood family, who are among the new southern arrivals to call Noosa home.

Jeweller Jaemes and his wife Rebecca, both 49, are celebrating their love of Noosa by offering couples gorgeous wedding and engagement rings made with fabulously flashy Argyle diamonds.

These rings are crafted from scratch by Mr Collingwood at his Makers Mark Jewellery Studio in Noosa Shopping Village,

Mr Collingwood said he made them to order using the latest 3D printing.

He said his business crafted and repaired everything on site.

"We specialise in the Argyle pink diamonds, in Adelaide these were absolutely massive for us," Mr Collingwood said.

"The Argyle, because it's Australian and there's Covid, people want Australian made, they want Australian products.

"We sold an immense amount in the month and half before we left and closed the shop down and I have no doubt they'll be popular up here as well."

Mr Collingwood said he had sourced a large selection at good prices and was keen to show his new clientele what a difference employing 3D printing made.

"The bonus with it is not everyone can visualise what a ring is going to look like on their finger from a drawing, so you're going from a two-dimensional drawing to a 3D image," he said.

"Then we can print it in 3D and they physically try it on their finger, then we go ahead and manufacture it.

"They can see what it's going to look like and for a lot of people that's a huge, huge thing."

He said it also cut costs.

"It cuts my time down from say about 10 hours of making to probably two and a half to three hours of manufacturing," Mr Collingwood said.

The Collingwoods made the move to a Noosa Waters' Queenslander on December 6 after selling up a thriving business in Adelaide.

It's a move that has delighted their 18-year-old daughter Taylah who works in their Noosaville retail outlet and their Year 11 son Hunter who is keen to work on his surfing skills.

"The reason for moving up here was to slow down a bit - things move here at a slower pace," Mr Collingwood said.

Their business strategy is to now also construct a home workshop.

The Makers Mark also offers a free jewellery appraisal and cleaning service.
