Influencer Giveaways Pty Ltd collapses amid online controversy

A Queensland-based TikTok influencer company that gave away cash, cars and partnered with celebrity content creators is facing a $100k collapse following a failed giveaway promotion.

Influencers caught up in giveaway company's six-figure collapse

An influencer giveaway company, based on the Sunshine Coast, has collapsed owing more than $100,000 after partnering with a number of celebrity content creators.

An Australian Investments and Securities Commission notice shows the Baringa-based company, Influencer Giveaways Pty Ltd, entered liquidation last week.

The ASIC documents revealed the company owes money to 31 individual creditors, many small, Australian-based businesses such as Clare Civello’s three companies.

Ms Civello said after participating in a number of successful giveaways with the company and well-known influencers such as Tammy Hembrow and Em Davies, she signed up to another giveaway for $1100.

However, Ms Civello said the giveaway never happened and she struggled to get in touch with the company’s director.

According to Ms Civello, the giveaway works by encouraging the followers of influencers to go follow certain brands in order to enter the running to win a prize.

“So Tammy Hembrow goes ‘hey if you want to win this car, go over to Influencers Giveaways and follow everyone they are following’, and they could be up to like 75 people,” Ms Civello said.

It is not suggested Ms Hembrow was involved or knew of the alleged failed giveaway.

Ms Civello said she did not believe she would see her $1100 again, adding there needed to be more effective regulations on promotions running on social media.

“These business can go in, take your money and liquidate and I just don’t know how that is allowed,” Ms Civello said.

“It is just unregulated.”

The company is solely directed by Shanice Natasha Stevenson, Tik Tok creator on the Sunshine Coast, according to the documents shared with the corporate regulator.

The largest debt, estimated to be about $80,457, is owed to the Australian Taxation Office in GST, while another debt of about $4500 is owed to social media influencer Sarah Magusara.

Among other creditors, is Australian shoe brand, Naked Sole, owed $1500, and Melbourne-based brownie supplier, Charlie Brownie, owed $1100.

Matt Stevenson and Ms Stevenson are also listed as employees owed $7619 in wages by the company, according to the documents.

The company, which was first registered in July 2019 and ceased trading in November last year, is described by Ms Stevenson as a “digital agency”.

“Our company is a digital agency offering online services, so we don’t require physical assets to operate. We rely on expertise and cloud-based tools, enabling us to deliver value efficiently without traditional business infrastructure,” the documents stated.

Both Ms Stevenson and Mr Nogueira have been contacted for comment by this publication.

Liquidator Paul Nogueira was appointed to complete the company’s winding up.
