A former online retail businessman has been caught with dried mushrooms and marijuana after police searched a home in Belli Park.
Anthony Deen Fox, 56, of Belli Park pleaded guilty in the Noosa Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 18, to two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Phillip Stephens said Eumundi police searched the Cherry Lane property, which had several dwellings on it, about 10.15am on September 15.
The court was told seven people were on the property during the search and Fox led officers to a building he said was once his office.
Police officers found about 22g of marijuana in different bags and 11g of dried mushrooms.
Duty lawyer Bernard Bradley said a conviction would affect Fox’s ability to travel overseas where his son had family.
Mr Bradley said the drugs were in a plastic container that was in fact a bin and they had been destined for another bin and not for consumption.
The lawyer said his client had retired after selling an online retail business.
He said Fox had a prescription for the marijuana.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said Fox had a drug history that stretched back to 1984.
He fined Fox $800 and no conviction was recorded.
