Two men were killed in separate fatal motorcycle crashes on South East Queensland roads on Sunday.

A 31-year-old Eastern Heights man was thrown from his bike in a fiery crash at Purga on Sunday afternoon.

Police said early investigations indicate a motorcycle was travelling south on Ipswich Boonah Rd just before 2pm when it collided with a station wagon travelling north, before then colliding with an oncoming Mitsubishi Lancer.

The 31-year-old male rider was thrown from the motorcycle, which caught alight as a result of the collision.

Members of the public and paramedics performed CPR on the motorcyclist, however he died at the scene.

Three children who were passengers in the Lancer were transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital in stable conditions.

A 38-year-old Collingwood Park man, the driver of the vehicle, suffered minor physical injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the station wagon, a 36-year-old Annerley man, was treated for minor physical injuries.

Ipswich Boonah Road between Ford Road and Purga School Road was closed for several hours as a result of the incident but reopened about 7pm.

Meanwhile, a 74-year-old man died after after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed down an embankment on a rural road north of Toowoomba earlier on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Esk-Hampton Road near Ravensbourne about 8:30am, where the motorcyclist had been heading east on a white Triumph Thunderbird when he crashed into an embankment and was thrown off the bike.

Upon arrival Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews found that a second person had attempted to go down the embankment to help the injured male motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was assessed as being in a critical condition by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics but despite attempts to rescue him he died at the scene.

Esk Hampton Road was closed in both directions with detours in place near the incident but has since reopened.
