A formerly popular burger chain has closed its last Brisbane location after its site in the city’s north was repossessed by the landlord.

Miss Kay’s Burger Bar at Mitchelton has been shut with a notice posted on the door of the restaurant from First Asset Property Management saying: “Please be advised that this premises has been re-entered by Landlord … as a result of non-observance by the Tenant of Form 7 Notice to Remedy Breach of Covenant dated 21 August 2024”.

The closure comes just two months after the chain’s South Bank location was closed and eight months after their landlord locked them out of the Birkdale restaurant following an alleged dispute over unpaid rent.

While the Miss Kay’s location at Springwood was reportedly temporarily closed and expected to be remodelled but no updates have been provided since.

Miss Kay’s area manager Jordan Crouch said it was a “director’s decision” to close all shops down.

He said there could be possible discussions in the future about opening a remodelled Springwood location but for now, all shops were closed.

No reasons were given for the closures.

The closure marks a sad end to the American diner-style burger restaurant, which first opened in the Brisbane CBD in 2015.

First Asset Property Management has been contacted for comment.
