A man has been flown to hospital after he was shot by police in the Tablelands region.
Emergency Services were called to bushland on Northey Road, Tolga, shortly after reports of a man armed with a bladed object, just after 1pm Sunday.
It’s understood police attempted to negotiate with the man before he allegedly approached an officer whilst armed.
The man was shot once in the abdomen and immediate first aid was provided.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We have transported a man to Atherton Hospital with life-threatening injuries to his abdomen, he has then been flown to Cairns Hospital,” he said.
It was later confirmed the man was in a serious but stable condition
The matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
