Man charged with arson over alleged attempt to set fire to police car

A man who allegedly attempted to set fire to a police car parked at an Ipswich police station has been charged with arson.

A 38-year old man has been charged with arson as police allege he set fire to a police car in Ipswich.

Police say the man attempted to torch the car outside the Goodna police station. He allegedly initially started the fire in the car park just off Church Street at 1.20pm.

The fire was extinguished shortly afterwards and no-one was hurt.

He is expected to appear before the Ipswich Magistrates Court today, September 12.
