A mum of two, charged with trying to run down a man in a shocking road rage incident at East Macky, has landed behind bars after her latest alleged offending.
Vaey Montanna-Freya Varmora, 27, had her bail revoked and is now in custody awaiting psychological assessment after she allegedly stalked the man she tried to run over in January.
Mackay Magistrates Court heard police were adding a charge of unlawfully stalk, intimidate or harass to the raft of charges Ms Varmora is facing, including a charge of attempt to murder and threatening violence.
Ms Varmora first appeared before the court after an incident on January 5, 2025 where she allegedly tried to run down a 31-year-old man on Goldsmith St.
Footage of the alleged clash played in court appears to show Ms Varmora allegedly behind the wheel of a vehicle driven at a man, striking him and forcing him to roll over the bonnet.
The court previously heard it was alleged Ms Varmora intended to hit the victim because she believed he was going to bash her and thought by doing so the victim would get in his car and leave her alone.
Defence solicitor Robert Beamish said the victim provided three separate recounts of the alleged stalking which were “concise” and made specific reference to Ms Varmora and a red Subaru vehicle.
The court heard the alleged offending took place between March 31, 2025 and April 30, 2025.
Ms Varmora was later arrested and remanded to custody, and on May 9 Magistrate Damien Dwyer officially revoked her bail.
Mr Beamish said the alleged offending comes as Ms Varmora was “finally getting her life back on track” and said she disputed the charge.
“She was finding it very hard to find work based on media coverage,” Mr Beamish said.
“There are some significant concerns for her mental health and that’s going to take some time to investigate.”
Mr Beamish applied on Ms Varmora’s behalf for bail on conditions of no contact with the victim and regular reporting.
Mr Dwyer said the same car involved in Ms Varmora’s alleged offending from January was used in the new charges before the court.
“Not only that, the incidents occurred at places where you must have been actively looking for his whereabouts,” Mr Dwyer said.
“It seems to me in respect of this later offence the evidence against you is very strong.”
Mr Dwyer said he was not satisfied Ms Varmora would not commit further offences and rejected her application for bail, remanding her to next appear in court in July.
