The Education Department has confirmed three students suffered injuries in a crash between a bus and car on a rural road in the state’s north-west.

Eight people have been treated for minor injuries after a bus and car crash on a rural Queensland road.

A Queensland Department of Education spokesman confirmed that three students of Kilcummin State School were on board a Translink-operated school bus when the crash occurred at 3pm on Tuesday.

“Three students were on the bus at the time of the accident and the Queensland Ambulance Service attended to assess those involved,” the spokesman said.

“The school is in contact with the affected families and will continue to monitor the students’ wellbeing.

“No further details can be provided due to privacy issues.

“Support is available at the school to anyone that may require it.”

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called at 3.01pm to a car and bus crash on Kilcummin School Road and Golden Downs Rd.

The incident happened near to Kilcummin State School, which is more than three hours west from Mackay.

She said four adults and four children suffered minor injuries in the crash, with two having left the incident within three quarters of an hour.

Two patients were transported to Clermont Hospital in a stable condition, but the spokeswoman said paramedics had not marked any details of their injuries.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers on scene had not reported whether the road was not blocked.
