AFL Queensland has been swamped with interest for the 2021 AFLQ Schools Cup, with more than 100 schools securing their place within the first 24 hours of the nomination period.
After the annual statewide competition was limited to just secondary schools this year because of coronavirus, AFLQ has reopened entries to all divisions for next year's iteration, the sixth of its kind.
The Mackay round will be held at Harrup Park on June 16, 2021.
The winners from the local competition will then travel to Townsville on August 11 for the north Queensland championships, followed by the state final in Maroochydore in mid-October.
AFL Mackay competitions co-ordinator Josh Rhodes said he was yet to receive any nominations from local schools, but hoped to see them roll in over the next few weeks.
