IT HAS been sitting vacant for the past two years, but the old Bunnings site at Mount Pleasant will soon have a new tenant.
The Daily Mercury can reveal World Gym Mackay will be the first tenant to open at the Greenfields Boulevard complex, with work currently under way at the site in preparation.
The national gym franchise have leased an 1,800 sq m space in the refitted complex that will incorporate a separate cardio and weights areas, a functional training room for group training sessions, cycle room and boxing area, as well as a cafe and creche operating six days a week, gym spokesperson Luke Glassford said.
"We'll have everything the other (local) gyms have got plus more, at a lower price point," Mr Glassford.
Mr Glassford said they were on schedule to start moving in from April and were expecting to open the doors to members by June 1.

Potential clients will be able to take out pre-opening memberships from March with no commitment to remain a member once the gym finally opens.
Mr Glassford said the gym is expecting more than a 1,000 people to join this year and will be employing in excess of 15 personal trainers, sales and reception staff.
World Gym Mackay is the first tenant to be announced for the reconfigured Greenfields site which will incorporate three stores.
The 10,000 square metre site has been the subject of much speculation over the past two years as to who will tenant the building with mini-golf, an ice skating rink, Ikea or Aldi being some such ideas.
The other two tenants in the building have yet to be announced.
