A 69-year-old man has tragically died after hitting a tree in Qld cattle grazing country.

A 69-year-old man has died after his truck rammed into a tree on a rural road outside Valkyrie, in the Isaac Region on Saturday morning.

Paramedics were called to the scene on Fitzroy Developmental Rd near the Barada Barna Rd intersection at around 8am.

The man was freed at around 9.10am after he was trapped behind the wheel but tragically died at the scene.

Lanes were reduced in both directions and a rescue chopper arrived on scene but sadly, was not needed to take the man to hospital.

The road had reopened on Saturday afternoon and a forensic crash unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
