Queensland home approvals highest in four years

SEPTEMBER has become the best month for Queensland building approvals in more than four years, with 1834 private houses given the go-ahead.

SEPTEMBER has become the best month for Queensland building approvals in more than four years, with 1834 private houses given the go-ahead.

The latest figures from Australian Bureau of Statistics shows the state has not had so many houses green-lit since July 2010.

By comparison: just 1556 homes were approved for building during the same period of 2013.

The ABS data shows Queensland led nationally in building approvals as one of the few states not showing a fall in trend terms.

Australia-wide, approvals for private sector homes fell by 0.2% in September.

Queensland's approvals increased by 1.7%, beating the New South Wales' more modest increase of 0.9%.

Victoria's approvals fell by 1.8%, South Australia by 0.7% and Western Australia by 0.3%.
