Police have charged a Townsville man with murdering his new girlfriend after a woman’s body was found in bushland at Bluewater.

The 38 year old is also charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to shots allegedly fired at a vehicle at Yalboroo on Sunday.

He will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with murder (domestic violence offence).

He is also charged with stealing after he allegedly failed to pay for fuel at Giru service station on August 13.

The new boyfriend of Mackay mum Tania Trickey, who was killed in Bluewater bushland, has been taken into custody after the car he was found driving was spotted in the area on Saturday.

The body of the 44-year-old mother of four was found by teenagers in bushland near Jaloonda Rd in Bluewater at about 4.40pm on Saturday.

Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit detectives released a video and photos of a vehicle believed to be linked to the death of a woman in Bluewater and the gun shots fired at a vehicle in Yalboroo.

Police are seeking dashcam vision of the Corolla hatch that was in Bluewater on Saturday and travelling south of Proserpine on Sunday.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam near Bluewater Drive, Jaloonda Road including the Jaloonda Road boat ramp at Althaus Creek and the Bruce Highway between Bluewater and Deeragun between 10.30am and 11.30am on Saturday, August 13.

Investigators will also allege a man, in the same vehicle, was travelling south on the Bruce Highway near Yalboroo about 11.30am on Sunday, August 14 when he pointed a shotgun at a passing motorist, firing one shot into the side of the man’s vehicle.

Police are also appealing for anyone with dashcam who was near Midge Point Road, Bloomsbury and the Bruce Highway near Bloomsbury, Yalboroo, Calen and Mount Ossa about 40km south of Proserpine between 11.30am and noon on Sunday, August 14.

The vehicle may have been driving in an erratic manner, police say.

Townsville Crime Services Inspector Jason Shepherd has urged anyone in or around these two locations with dashcam or CCTV to contact police.

“The community plays such an important role in providing information, dashcam or CCTV,” he said.

“We are urging anyone who may have been in Bluewater on Saturday or south of Proserpine on Sunday to please check their dashcam vision.

“The sudden death of the woman in Bluewater on Saturday is a tragedy.

“We are urging anyone with dashcam or information to contact police.”

Initial: A murder suspect is accused over a daylight drive-by shooting after he allegedly fired a bullet into a stranger’s car north of Mackay.

Police have taken a man into custody at Proserpine, north of Mackay, following investigations into the alleged homicide of a woman at Townsville.

The comes after roadside shooting incident at Yalboroo on Sunday.

A 44-year-old Townsville mother of four has been identified as the victim of a violent murder after a group of teenagers, who had been quad biking, found her body on Jaloonda Dr at Bluewater on Saturday afternoon.

Investigators will allege a man was travelling south on the Bruce Highway near Yalboroo about 11.30am on Sunday, August 14 when he pointed a shotgun at a passing motorist, allegedly firing one shot into the side of her vehicle.

“Investigations are ongoing regarding a vehicle of interest and there is no further information at this time,” the spokesman said.

The victim, who was not known to the man, was not physically harmed during the incident.

A 38-year-old Deeragun man was taken into custody without incident about 8.30pm on Sunday at a business near Main St on the Bruce Highway, Proserpine.

He is assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Detectives attached to Operation Uniform Umbara from Townsville will travel to Mackay today to continue investigations.

There is no ongoing threat to either the Bluewater or Yalboroo communities.
