Whitsunday police are investigating after a man in his 70s was allegedly assaulted in the early hours at Airlie Beach with any witnesses to the incident urged to come forward.
Emergency crews were called to a park on the Airlie Esplanade just before 3am Friday following reports a man had been attacked by an unknown person.
On arrival the man was location suffering injuries and taken to Proserpine Hospital.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed paramedics took a man in his 70s to hospital following an alleged assault.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers were investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
She said police were asking for any witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.
