At least three people are now before the courts in Mackay over allegations of sex with dogs.
The disturbing development can be revealed by this publication as can the names of those charged and where their cases are up to.
Victor James Tetley is charged with bestiality, allegedly involving a dog on or about September 15, 2022 at Mackay.
The 35-year-old’s case was previously listed for committal mention in Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 27 but had been delisted.
Under the Queensland Criminal Code section 211, any person guilty of bestiality is liable to imprisonment for up to seven years.
Because of the nature of the charge, the case must be dealt with in the district court.
The case against Mr Tetley went through a registry committal, which administrative process, on September 27 and has been committed to the higher court.
Now the Office of the Department of Public Prosecutions has six months to formally indict Mr Tetley on the bestiality charge.
Meanwhile, in a completely unrelated case Sarina couple Crystal May Hoare, 37 and Jay Wade Veenstra, 28 are both charged with five counts of bestiality.
Police will allege the sex acts involved two dogs and were recorded on October 18 in 2021 and on March 19, May 17, June 6 and October 25 in 2022 in the Sarina region.
The couple was arrested in July this year, had their first court appearance August 14 and are due back for a committal mention later this year.
All three of those charged with bestiality remain on bail.
