From a motorist who allegedly tried to mow down a pedestrian to a man who reportedly assaulted two women while they slept in their camper, here are the latest open cases under investigation across Mackay, Isaac and the Whitsundays.

Blacks Beach
A new home under construction was damaged along Burleigh Crt between 9.30am on May 6 and 8am on May 8.
“Entry was gained into the building and walls and doors have been damaged throughout,” police state.

Sarina Range
A thief entered a construction shed along East Funnel Creek Rd about 1am on May 9 to steal a silver Toyota Landcruiser ute and a generator trailer.
Police state the ute has the registration number 729IYU.
The sound of the ute starting alerted the neighbours with the generator trailer “a short time later” found “abandoned at the top of the Sarina hill”.

Slade Point
A barking dog alerted a Slade Point Rd resident to an intruder in their home about 1.30am on May 7.
“The intruder has been chased out of the house and they have then ran away from the area with the second person who had been in the front yard,” Mackay police stated.
“Police were contacted and have conducted patrols with in the area, including the use of the police dog squad for tracking purposes.”

Airlie Beach
Whitsunday detectives are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted two women on Shute Harbour Rd.
Mackay Crime Prevention Unit’s Senior Constable Steve Smith said the man entered an unlocked campervan where four woman had been sleeping about 1.50am on February 8, and assaulted two of the women “before running off”.
“The women were not physically injured,” Constable Smith said.
“The man is described as having a slim build with a light tanned complexion, aged in his mid 20s, about 175 to 180cm tall, dark brown short wavy hair with a gaunt face.
“He was wearing a dark coloured T-shirt with a small white logo on the front and a large white logo with a swirled image on the back and was wearing beige/light coloured shorts.”

Mackay Harbour
A person has forced entry into a toolbox on a ute parked at the Mackay Harbour overnight between May 8 and 9.
They took Makita power tools which had yellow spray paint on them.

Proserpine
A person allegedly stole diesel fuel from a private property on Up River Rd in Mount Pluto just before midnight on May 3.
“Two people have crawled underneath a wire fence to access a diesel pump” and “interfere” with it, police stated.
“The thieves have brought their own equipment to move a large quantity of diesel from the pump to a nearby parked vehicle”.

Mackay
A person driving a white-coloured sedan drove onto the footpath on the corner of Carlyle St and Gordon St in Mackay to allegedly try to strike a pedestrian about 1.20pm on December 30, 2022.
“More than one occupant of the vehicle are also alleged to have approached the pedestrian and shouted abuse,” police state.
“The pedestrian was not injured in any way.”

Cannonvale
Officers are appealing for more information into an alleged unarmed robbery during which an unknown assailant allegedly struck a 21-year-old man in the face three times.
The victim had been opening his car boot about 7.4opm on April 30 along Pandanus Rd when the alleged attack occurred.
“It is further alleged that after the assault, the unknown offenders stole nine vapes from the man’s car before fleeing into bushland,” Constable Smith said.
“Police patrols were conducted in the area shortly afterwards the alleged incident however, the alleged offenders, believed to be two men, have not yet been located.”

Mackay
Police arrested a 41-year-old Mackay resident after an alleged break-in at a Broadsound Rd Paget business about 10pm on May 3.
Mackay police stated the man was spotted kicking in the door triggering a call to police.
Upon arrival, officers found a damaged glass panel and a sounding alarm.
“It’s alleged that the 41 year old was found hiding behind a cash register,” police stated.
“He was arrested by officers and then searched … it’s further alleged officers have found a clip seal bag containing cannabis.”
The man, charged with entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a dangerous drug, is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on May 29.

Marian
An unknown person allegedly damaged a front door of Hadley St business to gain entry between 8pm on May 2 and 7am on May 3.
Police state the entire office area was searched but nothing was confirmed as stolen.

Calen
“A significant amount of food” was stolen out of a shed freezer at a property on Ferris St between April 21 and 25.
The shed door was closed but unlocked.

Te Kowai
An orange 2003 model Husqvarna ride on mower plus a trailer were stolen from a Te Kowai Foulden Rd property between April 24 and 26.
Police say entry was gained via the perpetrators interfering with a lock mechanism on a door.

Shoal Point
Thieves swiped a concrete vibrator, Milwaukee grease gun, pool pump, steel cutter, Milwaukee finishing gun, paslode framing guns and a sludge pump from a storage container on Shoal Pt Rd overnight on April 25.
“Entry was gained into the container are removing a heavy duty padlock,” police stated.

Mount Pleasant
An intruder stole a silver 2017 Hyundai Veloster coupe with registration number MKS 74 from a Ross St home between midnight and 5am on April 27.
“Entry was gained through a closed but unsecured roller door leading into a garage attached to the home,” police stated, adding vehicle owners were urged to “store their car keys in secure and out of sight locations with their homes – especially during night time hours”.

Habana
A person broke into a secured shed along Yakapari Habana Rd to steal a blue Yamaha FZR 2009 jet ski with registration number CA377Q, and a trailer, between April 11 and 22.
“Entry was gained by damaging the lock to a side roller door,” police stated.

Mirani
Thieves entered a closed but unlocked farm shed along Bradfords Rd in Septimus to steal diesel fuel overnight on April 14.
Police state the criminals moved a diesel fuel tank outside the shed to steal fuel, also taking off with myriad tools including welding equipment, spanners and Milwaukee equipment.

Andergrove
Two people attempted but failed to break-in to a home on Pittman St in Andergrove about 12.50am on April 4.
“The resident was alerted to the noise at the side door and has sighted two people (males wearing hoodie style jumpers) attempting to gain entry,” police stated.
“When challenged both males have ran from the area … inquiries made by the resident revealed that a vehicle which was parked in the driveway had already been entered but nothing has been confirmed as stolen”.

Proserpine
A business compound on Mill St in Proserpine was broken into between April 6 and 12 with an “unconfirmed number” of cable drums taken.
“The perimeter fence (includes barbed wire) was navigated to allow entry,” police stated.

Walkerston
A traffic control trailer was stolen from Lorne Rd in Walkerston between March 31 and April 5.
“The trailer had been secured with wheel locks when stolen,” police stated.
“It is a domestic registration number EZ 2986.”

Mackay City
An intruder broke the front glass door to gain entry to a business on Victoria St about 2.15am on April 6.
They then damaged a locked door handle to get into a staffroom.
Nothing was confirmed as stolen.

Slade Point
A criminal forced open a secured door to break into a business along Pacific Esplanade in Lamberts Beach about 1.45am on April 4.
They took cash from an interior office but nothing else was reported as damaged or stolen.

Carmila
Thieves helped themselves to commercial power tools, a chainsaw, paint, a water blaster, and myriad other tools when they forced entry to a secured shed along Gillinbin Creek Rd at Carmilla between March 31 and April 4.
“Outside of the shed was a large diesel fuel tank which was accessed and a significant quantity of fuel was also stolen,” police stated.
