A stolen LandCruiser led police on a brazen car chase through canefields to Mackay’s west.

A 29-year-old man was arrested near Townsville after an alleged string of offences between Gold Coast and Alligator Creek

A stolen car has been involved in a brazen police chase through Mackay’s west.

The Toyota LandCruiser was stolen from a Mackay home shortly before noon.

Police attempted to intercept the stolen vehicle as it drove west but was unsuccessful.

The LandCruiser was on the Peak Downs Highway near Walkerston before turning onto Rocky Waterholes Wollingford Road.

It is understood the stolen vehicle was tracked driving through canefields that ran parallel to the road, dodging police and civilians.

Police attempted to use tyre deflation devices to stop the stolen car, but it became unsafe to deploy when the car began driving on the opposite side of the road.

The car evaded police and is still on the run, with police units disengaging about 2.15pm.
